Tour & Taxis: yesterday, today and tomorrow

Once the logistics hub of Brussels, the site has been gradually reinvented to become a unique events hub, where heritage, innovation and contemporary uses meet. Today, its history continues to be written through the events it hosts: more responsible, more flexible, more inspiring.

The birth of a major logistics hub

Tour & Taxis (then called Thurn & Taxis) is inaugurated as a strategic logistics and customs hub at the heart of European trade.

Full economic activity

The site has established itself as one of the country's busiest logistics hubs, providing lasting structure to the district. Directly connected to the rail network, the site plays a key role in the movement of goods and people, linking Brussels to the continent's major economic axes.

A period of decline and silence

As logistics flows and transport infrastructures evolve, the site gradually loses its original function. As a result, certain parts of Tour & Taxis are less used, and sometimes left out of urban life,

A fresh start with a long-term vision

Nextensa's acquisition of the site marked a decisive turning point. Rather than a simple real estate conversion, a global vision was required: to breathe new life into the site by respecting its heritage, while opening it up to new contemporary uses.

A living heritage,
for today's events

Today, the site’s heritage can be seen in its volumes, materials and circulation. This unique setting makes it possible to design flexible, fluid event experiences that are firmly rooted in their environment. The industrial past becomes an asset: it gives character, scale and a strong identity to each event.

Sustainability: a concrete, site-based approach

Buildings designed to last

The redevelopment of Tour & Taxis is based on an ambitious refurbishment of its assets.

The buildings have been redesigned according to contemporary sustainability standards, combining energy performance, comfort and respect for existing structures. The Gare Maritime, for example, illustrates this global approach. Its conversion is based on the reuse of existing buildings, a large presence of natural light and the integration of more sustainable energy solutions, notably through renewable energy production installations such as solar panels.

A sustainable, certified and committed approach

Recognized commitments, integrated into the operation of the site and the projects we host.

The operation of the site for events is part of a structured sustainable approach, recognized by benchmark labels and certifications such as Green Key, BREEAM and a group-wide ESG approach.
Beyond the buildings, this approach is reflected in the concrete choices made in the organization of events. Tour & Taxis works with committed caterers who are attentive to the origin of products, short supply chains and more responsible options, notably plant-based.

Event operation that respects the site

Tour & Taxis benefits from excellent public transport links (metro, streetcar, bus, SNCB).

This accessibility facilitates the arrival of participants, limits the use of private cars and supports more sustainable event formats, particularly for congresses and professional events with large audiences.
